Machine Readable Passports (MRPs)
- Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) are issued in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. Ever since the installation of Machine Readable Passport (MRP) facility at the Pakistan Embassy Kathmandu, issuance of manual passports has been phased out. Machine Readable Passport (MRP) are currently being issued from Pakistan Embassy Kathmandu.
- MRP office operates on the principal of live data capturing so applicants’ presence (with required documents) is compulsory to process the application.
- Applicants’ data entry, photo, signature and thumb impression capturing are done by trained MRP staff using latest technology.
- Applicants DO NOT need any application forms or photographs for MRP applications as it is done by MRP staff during application process.
- MRP Services are appointment only and applicants visiting Pakistan Embassy Kathmandu. Appointments are booked through email (pakembktm@gmail.com) and call on number: +9779762874272.
Important Announcement. The Government of Pakistan has launched an Online Passport Renewal System through E-Service. All applicants are informed that the system is just for “Renewal of Passport”. All other applications will be handled by the MRP Section of the Pakistan Embassy as per existing practice.
Important Announcement about MRP Queries through Telephonic Service. The new timings for queries relating to Machine Readable Passport (MRP) are now 10:00 – 13:00 hrs for convenience of general public. However, response through email shall be carried out as per routine.
